Poppy Prickles
Didn't get the chance to go out looking for photographs today, so this evening I hunted closer to home. I love the fascinating and often bizarre shapes that can be found amongst the small things in the garden - and it amazes me how good modern compact cameras are at macro photography. My little Canon lets me focus only a couple of centimetres from the subject - I remember in the days of film fiddling about with macro lenses and bellows and things. Not that it wasn't fun, but it was much harder to experiment or try something on a whim - which is often where you get the best results. Anyway - our poppies are about to come into flower, but for now these wonderful spiky buds look rather interesting.
