Blean Woods Red Trail
Sunday. It’s time for another fortnightly walk with the Steely-Eyed Ninja Speed Walkers. Today we are venturing out into Blean Woods and tackling the Red Trail, a modest 4.5km circular route through the ancient woodland. It rained steadily all morning, but we had an excellent turnout, despite the weather—and three doggy companions for good measure. It’s not a particularly hilly walk, but there are a few slopes along the way, which were very muddy and slippery. One of our members has a reputation for taking the odd tumble; I believe the description ‘Legs like Bambi’ has been used once or twice. Another of our members took to filming her climbing the most treacherous parts of the trail in the hope of some memorable footage.
Although the route was shorter, with the hills and the mud we all felt like we’d had a good workout by the end. Originally we’d planned to grab lunch at the Cosy Club after the walk, but everyone was so wet and muddy when we got back to the cars, we decided to give that a miss.
Thanks to Kirsty, Amy, Charlotte, Nikki, Nicola, Sienna, Mila, Jess and Billy for coming along despite the rain.
