Bright Barberry
Tuesday. Another fine and sunny start, becoming cloudy just before lunchtime, but it stayed dry throughout the day. Dash and I found ourselves both gentlemen of leisure this morning: no work for me because it’s a Tuesday, and Dash has now finished school for the summer, with all of his exams out of the way. Vanessa had the strange realisation that, after 21 years, she would no longer have any school uniforms to wash, ever again. A spot of gardening for me, mostly wisteria-wrangling, and a long lie-in for Dash: he has a beach party this evening in Whitstable, which is likely to be a late one. Got out for a walk on the lanes in the afternoon, just a short one, about 5km.
Today’s photo: I noticed this vivid orange shrub along Napchester Road, planted alongside a large lavender that provided interesting purple contrast. Siri identified this as a Japanese Barberry, and struck by a spot of afternoon sunlight, it really glowed — the colours here are only minimally edited.
