Daisy Fields

Saturday. The first day of the late May bank holiday weekend, and the weather is amazing. Got out for an early walk when the air was cooler, though even at 06:30, when I set off, it was 17°C and the sun was already high in the sky. I walked along Singledge Lane to the Crossing, then extended the walk with a circuit of Coldred Road, Long Lane, Mill Lane, and Little Haynes, returning to the Crossing and onwards, back to Whitfield: about 11km in total. I took it at a brisk pace that was hard-going at times, but it’s good cardio. I had a slightly mad moment in the early hours and signed myself up for the Pilgrims Hospices ‘Pilgrim’s Way Challenge’ on June 20th, so I will need all the training I can get! Back home, a long cold drink, a coffee, and then I fell asleep for a quick nap on the patio sofa.

In the afternoon, we took advantage of the weather and had a lovely barbecue with spicy-rubbed chicken, veggie skewers, corn on the cob, and homemade burgers that Raff & I prepped a few hours earlier. V made a huge Greek salad and new potatoes to go with it. Relaxed in the evening sunshine with the gang before getting in-game for the final part of the evening.
