On the way home tonight the A2 was full of jams heading towards Dover, so I tried the usually effective remedy of turning onto the country lanes. I was not so lucky this time and ended up in what felt like a labyrinth of road closures and diversions so bad that it would have been quicker to wait in the traffic. I think we need eye-roll emojis in the Squarespace editor...
