Hot Yellow

Saturday. The mornings are noticeably darker now; I woke at six-thirty to the feeble beginnings of twilight, but it’s looking like another fine autumn day. Vanessa’s working in Folkestone this weekend, and Raff needed an early lift into Canterbury for eight. He’s doing an 18-mile (29k) hike along the Augustine Camino with a few of his uni friends — from Rochester to Thurnham via Aylesford Priory. Just me and Dash holding the fort, and for most of it we were happily pottering with our own projects and a bit of gaming. In the evening, Vanessa went to a birthday gathering at her friend Dawn’s house, and got back around eleven.

Gabriel’s having a great time at university in Manchester, and tells me his shared house (with nine of his friends) is working out well. It’s very lively: plenty going on in the evenings, and there are always people hanging out in the kitchen for a chat. Monty is in Tokyo for a few days, chilling out after his cycle tour across Japan. In a few days, he will fly back to Arizona to see Kenadee, and later in the month, they’re both off to South Korea to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
