Subway

Friday. A very early start—Gabriel had been celebrating with his old school friends in Canterbury last night, winding up at Tokyo Tea Rooms till the early hours. A Dad’s Taxi pickup was requested for 02:00, from the usual spot outside the Subway on Upper Bridge Street. There’s a little lay-by where you can pull in and wait for a few minutes, and a quick route out of the city centre, along the side streets, which avoids getting too embroiled in Canterbury traffic. So picking up and dropping off ‘at Subway’ has become a family thing for many years now. I had a few minutes to wait while Gubs extracted himself from the nightclub, so I made a long exposure photo from the parking spot, using the windscreen mount for stability. Gubs was on good form after his night out, and we had a great sing-along to Bronski Beat and Run-D.M.C. in the car on the way home, but then sleep eluded me till about 4 am.

Luckily, I was working at the Chartham office again, which is always much calmer than our main site. It rained and sleeted heavily on the way, but at least the roads remained ice-free. Dash has Maths and Physics mocks today. I had a long but pleasant day at work, and got home around seven for supper and games night.
