Tooled Up

Tuesday. Still sunny and warm — I can’t remember such a long, uninterrupted stretch of fine weather, not since the late seventies, but I’m sure that’s probably overstating it. Either way, it really has been a lovely hot summer, and apparently there is another heatwave on the way. Dash needed a lift home from a house party in Canterbury, but Vanessa was heading there anyway, which solved the problem. I was careful to brief her on the importance of a MacDonald’s breakfast under these circumstances. Monty’s current location on Snapchat places him at Mount Fuji — I heard on the family grapevine that he’s doing an eight-hour hike to the summit today.

Beyond that, just another peaceful summer vacation day, except for Milo who is working. He’s had an interview for a recruitment job in London, which sounds promising, so we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for him. Raff went to church and met friends in Canterbury. Vanessa took the sutures out of Gabriel’s hand — they were due to come out after a week — and it seems to be healing well. Dash has another beach party tonight, in Herne Bay, so I will have a nocturnal retrieval to do later. Tara came to visit in the afternoon; tomorrow, she’s off to Italy with Vanessa and Ed for a week’s holiday.
