We Are the Angry Mob

Sunday. A beautiful, bright clear morning — sunny, with a gentle breeze. That lasted until lunchtime, then it clouded over again and the rain returned. It was actually rather cold outside, which seems incongruous for June. Hunting around the place for a daily photo (the weather was not exactly inspiring any long walks) I spotted these winter pansies in full bloom: close-up and low down, they resembled a crowd of tiny cross people, and I was reminded of an old Kaiser Chiefs song:

We are the angry mob
We read the papers every day
We like who we like
We hate who we hate
But we're also easily swayed

Rather fitting for a miserable June afternoon in 2026. Everyone is having a very peaceful day, despite the weather: Milo went to the gym, then went into Canterbury with Vanessa and Tara for a bit of shopping. The rest of us pottered around at home — in my case, I got a lot of writing and editing done, as well as a spot of gaming. We made a nice big pot of chilli for supper, some of which made its way into my evening soup.
