Broken
Canterbury, April 2014
It’s been an eventful week so far - poor Gabriel fell off a climbing frame after school a few days ago and has broken his wrists. Fortunately, he has no other injuries, and the fractures are not complicated, but he will be in plaster for quite a while - and it’s the start of his Easter holidays, too. Gubsy returned to the fracture clinic today to have his heavy plaster casts removed and a check-up from the orthopaedic surgeon. Six weeks in a cast ahead, and we were told he could not do any writing as this could stress the healing bones in his wrists. The casts were replaced with modern fibreglass versions, and Gabriel was delighted to find that he could choose from various colours. As you obviously can’t see in monochrome, he settled on red and blue and is looking forward to returning to school so all his friends can sign them.
