Driven to Drink

Grove Ferry Inn, Grove Ferry, November 2013

It's the last day of my annual leave today, so back to earning an honest living tomorrow. This afternoon we decided to go for a lovely Sunday lunch at one of our favourite pubs, the Grove Ferry Inn. It's an extremely good gastro-pub with a rustic theme - the chef forages for many of the ingredients and most of the fruit and veg is homegrown. There are pigs, chickens and goats which the boys love, and the garden overlooks the river - great in the summer. I took a few family pictures while we were having lunch - and I love this one of Vanessa being driven to drink by pesky boys!

Reaching the Grove Ferry Inn is straightforward via the A28 from Canterbury, or from the A299 which joins the A28 at St Nicholas roundabout. Head to Upstreet, then turn off onto Sandpit Hill which is only a few hundred metres from the bridge across the Stour in Grove Ferry. There is ample parking in the pub car park and also at the adjacent Grove Ferry Picnic Site. You can walk to the river bank from the bridge, as well as other great trails in the Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve and the Stour Valley Walk.
