It's Not Easy Being Small

Canterbury, June 2013

It’s Rafferty’s 12th birthday today - so time for a party. Twelve years ago today, we welcomed our oldest young man into the world. Can't quite believe how fast the time has flown by, but now he's turned into a strapping lad on the brink of being a teenager. He got an electric shaver as one of his presents and actually needs it, for heaven's sake! How did that happen?

This image, however, is not about Raffy. I noticed this scene later on at the birthday party, during the feeding frenzy caused by the provision of chocolate cake. Poor little Dash was trying so hard to get some cake and I like the way the photograph shows all the grasping hands reaching over him.
