Run Boy Run

Perry Woods, Selling, Faversham, February 2014

We took the boys for an early morning walk in Perry Wood, pleased with ourselves for getting the troops moving promptly enough to get there by 8 am. This is the boys' favourite place to be, and they spent a happy couple of hours scampering about and arguing over sticks and swings. I took a lot of pictures, of course, but was particularly pleased with this one. Milo ran into the frame while I was framing this shot of the tree, which gave me the idea - and he kindly humoured the old man by repeating the run a few times till we got the shot right!

The day went downhill a little on returning to the car, where we found the back tyre completely flat and the spare wheel jammed in place. At least we had a pleasant spot to be stranded, and ninety minutes later a very nice AA man called Dave arrived to help us out and got us moving again in short order.

Perry Wood is a great place to visit for photography or just a nice family day out. There are easy walks through the pine woodland with attractive ferns making up most of the undergrowth, and there are picnic spots and a few rope swings for the children. The Rose & Crown pub in Perry Wood is handy for refreshments on the way round. Access is straightforward via the M2 to Faversham, and turn off the roundabout onto Brenley Lane aiming for Selling. It’s best to use navigation software to find the Perry Wood car park - the postcode is ME13 9RP.
