Smells Like Avengers
Sturry, April 2016
This evening after work, we took the dogs for a walk in Sturry Fields - well, I call it that because it’s in Sturry and there are fields, but I don’t think the location has a proper name. A short but pleasant walk here leads you through open fields, which are perfect for the dogs to run (no livestock to worry about), and then leads up to a small area of woodland. There is a beautiful display of bluebells here in the spring and plenty of trees to climb. The path leads up to Broad Oak, where you rejoin the road. Dash brought his lightsaber on the walk and looked suitably heroic in his Avengers hoodie. He told me he particularly liked this top because it ‘smelled like Avengers’...
This location is quite tucked away and easily missed. You can gain access at the bottom of Sturry Hill, where the A291 to Herne Bay joins the A28. About 50m from the junction, as you go up the hill, there is a little track off to the left that leads to a farm gate. If you pass Sturry Court Mews, you have gone too far. The path leads out onto the fields, and you can either follow the line of the railway or bear right, which will take you up to the woodland walk.
