The Leprechauns Made Me Do It

Canterbury, November 2010

This is Milo’s angry look. He has such expressive eyes - we used to call them ‘bushbaby eyes’ when he was very small. The boys have been playing out in front of the house this afternoon, on a warm late autumn day in November. This is a film photograph, and about 3 weeks have passed between taking the photo and seeing this developed image, so I can’t recall exactly what he was cross about.

This image was taken on a Contax G2, an interesting variant of the rangefinder design that is great fun to use. I have been doing quite a lot of film photography recently, and it has been a lot of fun buying and selling various classic cameras on eBay. I rarely make any sort of profit but I have been able to keep the hobby pretty much cost-neutral, which has allowed me to play with photography gear I could only have dreamed of owning back in the heyday of film.
