Woodland Warrior

Stormy weather today, with heavy rain showers and bursts of bright sunshine. We'd promised the boys a walk in Perry Wood this morning, and a little downpour would not stop us. I took this shot of Milo practising his hunting skills with Gabriel and Dash. The main challenge with this picture was control of the bright sunlight streaming through the leaves in the background, as exposing for Milo’s face risked burning out the sky and blowing the highlights in the image. Careful use of contrast, highlight and white sliders in Lightroom, and using negative clarity helped to turn the highlights into a soft glow that captured the mood far better.
