Babs

Saturday. Sunny, but cooler, with a smattering of high cirrus clouds across the sky. Vanessa’s working in Folkestone this weekend, and Milo has work this morning too. I spent a few fairly indolent hours working on various things photographic, and then ventured out on the lanes to get my steps in for the day. Halfway to the Crossing, I had a pleasant surprise when Ed & Tara drove by and stopped to say hello. They were on their way to look at bungalows and neighbourhoods in Shepherdswell and the nearby villages; Ed is planning to move here next year to be a bit closer to the family. It was such a pleasant, sunny evening that we decided to have a barbecue: spice-rubbed chicken breasts and homemade burgers, with new potatoes and Tara’s excellent Watermelon, Feta & Kalamata Olive salad. Very yummy indeed! Later, I managed to get online to play some GW2 with my guildies.

Today’s photo: this is Babs, a one-year-old dachshund pup who is staying with us for twelve days while her folks (who work with Vanessa) are on holiday in St Lucia. Their dog-sitting arrangements went awry at the last minute, so we’re pitching in. I spotted her snoozing, making the most of a sunny spot in the kitchen, with great contrasty morning light streaming in through the door. Perfect for a black-and-white photograph, but it also worked really well in the colour version — in the end, I couldn’t decide which I preferred.
