Monday. Cool and dry first thing, with sun and scattered clouds — but heavy rain and drizzle arrived in the afternoon. Half term is over, so Vanessa and Dash are both back at school today. Sadly, we had car trouble: the engine started but kept cutting out as soon as I applied any throttle. It let me reverse off the drive, and limp back on in first gear with several restarts — but second gear and actually going anywhere were out of the question. Luckily, Raff came to the rescue and kindly dropped Dash in town, then took me to the Chartham office. My shift was mellow, and I finished my work by five, so Vanessa and Dash picked me up on their way home — meaty pizza for supper and an early night.
