Cold Caffeine

Monday. Dash was still out at his friend’s party, so Raff went to pick him up from Thornden Woods mid-morning. He’d had a great time but very little sleep. Milo was in a similar predicament after watching the World Cup match against Mexico — out with his friends in town, where the pubs were open till five in the morning. With a 3:2 win for England, the celebrations had been very large indeed. Work took me out to Blean, which is always a peaceful change from the hustle and bustle of the main office, but I was back in the city for an afternoon meeting. It’s very hot again, reaching 34°C in Canterbury. Super sticky and humid; my caffeine needed to be cold.

It’s Monty’s birthday — he’s in Arizona with Kenadee now, so we had a lovely FaceTime call at 7 p.m. our time. It was 11 a.m. in Arizona, about 43°C, but with good AC in the apartment, it felt cold. Monty, Ken, and Bento are all very well: Monty’s sporting a new buzzcut, which suits him, but he looks like an extra from A Few Good Men. Ken’s enjoying her new nursing job, and Bento has a brand new squeaky bone to play with. Kenadee bought Monty a lovely Casio watch for his birthday, and a new wallet, and they’re off for a day trip to Sedona today.
