Sunday. Another English summer’s day — the weather started off in the Goldilocks zone and, barring a few itinerant clouds, stayed there throughout. The peace and quiet continued, with only the gentle rhythms of family life to punctuate the calm: Milo’s early-morning walk, Rafferty heading out to Mass mid-morning, Vanessa running a few errands, and Dash preparing for a friend’s house party later in the evening. I was up early and savoured the stillness with coffee and photo-editing, then a spot of wisteria-wrangling in the garden before seven. Now that Dash & Gubs have successfully migrated up the bedroom pecking order, Dash’s old room is looking very tempting as a new man-cave for me. Looks like measuring tapes and paint rollers will feature heavily in my future.
