Corley Crossing
Saturday. A long day. We left for Manchester at eight, taking Gubs back to begin his second year of university. It was wet and stormy for most of the drive. We stopped at Corley services on the M6 for lunch — noodles from Chopstix that were really rather good. There’s a footbridge over the M6 connecting the northbound and southbound halves of the services, and we had to cross it to get our food. I stopped at the midpoint to take a long-exposure shot, using the Slow Shutter app in light-trails mode. Although it was midday, the app worked just as well, capturing light trails from the vehicles themselves, not just the headlights. Under the moody sky, the results were striking.
We got to Gabriel’s new house at three, and it took a long time to move him in. Afterwards, there was the mandatory Tesco food shop to stock up the cupboards. Finally, supper at Pizza Express on Lapwing Lane before we said our goodbyes. We drove part of the way home and stayed overnight at the Park Inn in Walsall, near junction 9 on the M6, ready to make an early start on Sunday morning.
