Harbour Light
Saturday. A crisply cold morning with clear blue skies. Vanessa’s working in Folkestone today—it’s her birthday, so this doesn’t seem quite right, but later we’ll do something nice together as a family to celebrate. Milo has work this morning too. Monty introduced me to a new Korean game show he’s been watching with Ken: Physical Asia. It’s a novel sporting challenge, with teams of top athletes from eight different nations competing across a variety of events, featuring multiple languages and subtitles. Not what I’d usually watch, but amazingly addictive… I am hooked.
Dash needed a lift to the cinema late in the morning, and on the way back, I stopped at the Dover seafront to grab my photo for the day. Raff, Milo, Monty & Kenadee went into town for lunch at Wagamama (and a bit of shopping). At the same time, Dash and I bought supplies to make a feast of Vanessa’s favourite foods: a huge Greek salad, homemade sausage rolls, charcuterie and cheese boards, and Dash’s famous soda bread. Plus, a couple of bottles of Jam Shed Chardonnay. In the evening, after supper, Vanessa, Ken & Tara set about decorating one of the Christmas trees, because it makes the lounge look very cosy.
