Skulks in Dark Corners

Thursday. Cool, crisp and crystal clear in the morning. I slept (hallelujah) and there’s a hint of normal function resuming. This is good, because today’s all about moving computers and organising cables: hold my beer, Homer, the klea andrōn continues.

Kadience came to visit us from Manchester — Gubs collected her from Dover Priory station around three — and no sooner had she arrived, they were whisked off to Tesco with Vanessa and Dash to buy treats and supplies. Gabriel is taking Kadience to Salt Steakhouse in Canterbury tonight, a casual little place on Northgate in the King’s Mile. The menu centres on 30-day-aged ribeye and sirloin, alongside burgers, chicken and fish, with several dishes arriving under the restaurant’s rather mysterious secret sauce. It’s one of Milo’s favourite places in town, so he’d recommended it to them.

It seems to be a day for travelling, in one form or another. Milo got home from work at five, then almost immediately left for a long drive to Luton Airport to pick up a friend who’s returning from holiday.

Monty’s off to Japan today. After spending several weeks with Kenadee in Arizona, he’s beginning the next leg of his travels with a flight to Osaka to meet his old school friend Dennis — who now lives in Melbourne and will be joining Monty for the first three weeks of his Japanese adventure. I believe they’re hiring a car in Osaka and will be exploring around the Seto Inland Sea, but the plan will no doubt evolve on the fly as they go.
