Westbere Lakes

Easter Saturday. Lovely sunny weather, and blue skies laced with delicate high stratocumulus. V has to work in Folkestone today, so she was out early. With Monty, Ken, and Milo still away in Brussels, the house was very quiet this morning. I headed into Canterbury, then to Westbere, to go for a walk somewhere I haven’t visited for a while—it helps when looking for new things to photograph. There’s a nice 5k route following the margins of the Westbere fishing lakes, and along the banks of the Stour all the way to Fordwich. Unfortunately, in the years since my last visit, the local Anglers’ Association have fenced and locked off any access to the lakeside at all—really frustrating when you just want to take a few photos of the water. Luckily, after a few kilometres, I found one stretch that wasn’t fenced off, and was able to grab a few interesting shots. Later in the day, I got a very overdue haircut, and gave Gubs a lift to town for a night out with some old school friends who are all back from university for Easter. I suspect an early morning lift is in my future again.
