Winter’s Crossing

Monday. Cold again, but with clear blue skies. Vanessa headed out very early—a 05:30 start to battle the ravening hordes in Sainsbury’s at Westwood Cross. She has her list of Christmas provisions, and she checked it twice. I’m back at work today, but at least with the knowledge that this will be a short week. On the way to Canterbury, I stopped to capture the sunrise in Coldred as the dawn light streamed through the bare winter trees. Everyone else in the household took the opportunity to sleep in late. Work passed uneventfully, and I was away before five.
