Winter’s Last Gasp
Tuesday. Grey, overcast, and cold throughout the day, with strong winds blustering in later on. No work for me, so after the school run, I tidied up a few jobs at home and then hit the lanes for a slightly longer walk. I made it to ‘the Crossing’, a 7km route along Singledge Lane to the crossroads with Coldred Road and back. It’s not a long walk in the grand scheme of things, but it was always my baseline daily route in fitter days—so getting back to that is a nice psychological milestone. We had some good news: the boys’ applications for Irish citizenship have been approved. It’s taken about 14 months for the Registration of Foreign Birth process to complete, but now they can apply for their Irish passports and enjoy being part of the EU again.
