Leading Lines
Sturry, April 2018
It is a bright and clear Sunday afternoon, and Spring is springing. Off to nearby Sturry Fields for a stroll with the dogs - there is plenty of space here for them to run around off the lead. Gabriel is starting to show an interest in photography, so I have been giving him a few lessons in basic composition. Today’s exercise is to find examples of leading lines and use them to make some photographs. Luckily, there is no shortage of those in this field, and he came away happy with some nice pictures.
My old Fujifilm X-E1 has been given a new lease of life with a conversion to shoot in infrared. I sent it to Protech Photographic in Crowborough, who did an excellent and speedy job. They removed the normal infrared blocking filter that usually prevents IR interference with regular photography and replaced it with a filter that passes only 720nm infrared light. The beauty of this conversion is the ability to take infrared black-and-white photographs at normal shutter speeds - it is very liberating. People can look a little strange when shot in infrared, but it seems to have worked out well in the contrasty light here.
