Wednesday. A ridiculous absence of sleep, not great after Gabriel’s bloody shenanigans the night before. Felt like death warmed up all day, which was a shame as the weather was perfect and everyone was about. I half-heartedly put up some shelves and helped Vanessa with some painting — mostly by not getting in her way — but I really wasn’t in the zone. In fact, I was so far from the zone that I could neither see it, nor think of a witty way to write about it. A short late-afternoon nap helped, with a lovely supper of quiche, new potatoes and salad. Tara popped over to visit, and kindly pitched in to help with the painting — an artist by trade, she’s a dab hand at fixing wonky edges.
