Captain’s Wood Trail
Thursday. Quite a busy day: Dash had his first GCSE exam this morning, a Psychology paper. He spent the school run flipping through a revision book, but overall didn't seem overly stressed. After school, he reported the exam had gone really well — excellent news. I had a very, very busy morning at work, but once that was over, the afternoon's tasks had already been done, and I was able to get away early. I went for a walk along Singledge Lane, past the water tower, and took the path through Captain's Wood and across the fields before returning to Whitfield. A nice 5km circuit that burned a few calories along the way. The weather turned out well; it had been cool and overcast first thing, but by the afternoon, we had a little sun and blue sky in between the clouds.
Kenadee was still in packing hell when I got back from my walk, poor thing, with a dilemma over luggage a fraction of a kilo above the allowance. Dash has his last day of school tomorrow, and announced he will be off to a beach party in Whitstable to celebrate. We decided to have the celebratory 'cold collation' feast for Ken's departure this evening instead, so that everyone can be here for it. Later, after Vanessa & Ken had apparently cleared out the food aisles of the local M&S, we supped on scotch eggs, Spanish tortilla, smoked salmon and slices of prosciutto, Wensleydale with cranberries, garlic bread and soda bread, pizza, pasta & pesto, and more salady bits than you could shake a stick at. That wasn’t just stuffing our faces… it was Marks & Spencers stuffing our faces.
