Flight From Venice

Wednesday. Cool, grey and overcast this morning. The house is very quiet. Dash is still out at his party, Milo left early for work, and Gubs slept in because he can. I had a supervising shift at work: long, but not unpleasant; it remained steady rather than busy, and I had a good bunch of colleagues in the office with me. The weather stayed cloudy and dry, but by the afternoon it was getting increasingly sticky and humid. It’s the last day in Italy for Vanessa, Ed & Tara; they start their journey home this evening, and land in Gatwick around eleven. There’s a lurgy doing the rounds at work — everybody was coughing and sneezing on Monday — and I have a feeling it’s coming for me next: just those tell-tale muscle aches and sore throat at the moment, but we shall see.
