Port Light
Saturday. First day of my annual leave. It’s cool and dry today, with dramatic skies. I was out early and drove to the cliffs. The National Trust visitors centre is closed this time of year, so it’s free to park. There’s just a very short walk to the cliffside, where you can look out over the Port of Dover and the ferries bustling to and fro across the Channel. The light was excellent as the sun rose over the sea, complete with god rays and glowy bits in the clouds.
Vanessa’s working in Folkestone this weekend, and the house was quiet today. Monty, Kenadee & Bento went for afternoon tea at The Lane in Deal. Gabriel caught the train home from Manchester this afternoon and arrived in Canterbury just before six, so V picked him up on the way home. It’s my work Christmas party this evening. We’ve hired out The King's School Sports Centre again, same as the past few years. I’m the designated driver for a bunch of my work friends—I don’t drink, and I enjoy the company, so it made sense. It was a good evening, with no calamities, and once I’d dropped various people home afterwards, I made it back to Whitfield around half past twelve.
