The View from My Window

Wednesday. It’s a murkier day, cloudy and quite overcast. Dash has Maths and Geography GCSE papers today, so we did the school run this morning; Canterbury traffic was especially dire — even worse than normal. I have a long supervising shift all day, but although it can drag on a bit, it tends to be straightforward otherwise. There’s a little office right at the top of the building for this — I opened the windows wide for fresh air, and was rewarded with great views across the city skyline. This did not last: by lunchtime, it began to rain heavily and carried on for the most of the afternoon, with strong winds that brought the deluge right onto my desk.

My drive home took a while; I heard there was a crash on the A2 with traffic tailing back into the city. This did not sound at all appealing, so I took a different route through Fordwich, Bekesbourne and Bridge. The journey itself was longer, but at least I kept moving. The house was particularly quiet when I got home. Vanessa has gone to London with Tara this evening to stay with Ed, who’s been having some trouble with his back — she should be back on Friday.
