Blackberry Picking

Stour Valley Walk, Fordwich, August 2014

It turned out to be a good day today - two meetings, one in Ashford and one in London, didn't happen for various reasons, leaving me with a free afternoon. Vanessa & I took the boys blackberry picking in the woods near Fordwich. I think Gabriel ate more than he collected, but we had enough for a blackberry & pear pie in the end.

This picture was taken on the public footpath that runs from Fordwich, just outside the excellent George & Dragon pub. The path runs along the bank of the Stour River before cutting through the edge of old Chequers Wood and heading into Canterbury - it forms part of the 58-mile Stour Valley Walk from Lenham out to the coast at Stourmouth and Sandwich. There are beautiful views of the river and woodland on this stretch of the walk, and I’d recommend it as a photo walk or for a family day out.
