Shades

Canterbury, May 2016

A lovely, warm, sunny evening. And it's Friday. And I have just started a week of annual leave. These are all good things! Gabriel very kindly posed for some portraits in the garden so I could make today's blip. The rich tones of the old painted wood in the background seem to harmonise well with the skin tones in this image. The geometry of the straight lines is also interesting - I was careful to keep the camera level and avoid any tilt relative to the shed, which would have created a distortion in the image.

We have another camera gear arrival in the household this week - the new Fujifilm X-Pro 2 is here, an upgrade from the X-E1s and X-T1 I’ve been using over the last few years. This has been great to use, with a solid and compact rangefinder design that really suits me, as well as a nice jump in resolution and AF efficiency for portrait photography.  So far I am really enjoying the new beast, and the image files are a delight to edit, so it’s off to a good start…
