Velociraptor
Sturry, May 2016
This Sunday morning we took the dogs and our younger boys for a walk in the nearby Sturry Fields. It’s only a couple of minutes’ walk from home, so it tends to be our go-to place for letting the various small mammals in our family have a runaround. Milo and Gabriel pretended to be velociraptors and stalked us amongst the bushes as we walked along. This is my favourite image from the morning, with Milo just visible in the sea of shrubbery. Gabriel is in there too, somewhere, but is hiding better at the moment.
This location is quite tucked away and easily missed. You can gain access at the bottom of Sturry Hill, where the A291 to Herne Bay joins the A28. About 50m from the junction, as you go up the hill, there is a little track off to the left that leads to a farm gate (if you pass Sturry Court Mews, you have gone too far). The path leads out onto the fields, and you can either follow the line of the railway or bear right, which will take you up to the woodland walk.
